Indian CEOs Sashay Down The Ramp For A Noble Cause

Indian CEOs Sashay Down The Ramp For A Noble Cause

Indian CEOs are not known for their fashion sense, so when we got to see some of the best names walking down the ramp, we almost passed out. Imagine Manish Kejriwal, the India head of Temasek Holdings Advisors donning a new dress and walking like a model on a ramp! We are sure that even he also never could have imagined doing this ever in his life. Similarly, CEO of FMCG major Hindustan Unilever – Nitin Paranjpe on a ramp seemed unbelievable but drew huge cheers from the crowd. So what were they really doing in a Fashion Show? Didn’t they have important board meetings to attend or multi-billion takeovers to handle? Well, it was a very noble cause. The event was Toofles Style for Smiles.

50 CEOs from the top companies of India stopped minting their millions of awhile and contributed to the event which was apart of Joy of Giving Week. Anu Aga, Sanjay Nayar, Anindo Mukherji of General Mills, Mukul Deoras, and Manisha Girotra of UBS Investment Bank were some of the CEOs who took part in the event to raise money for charity groups. For every top executive taking part, a generous amount of INR 1 lacs was donated to a noble cause.

ICICI Securities MD and CEO and the brains behind Toofles, Madhabi Puri-Buch later told the gathering that INR 1 lacs will be donated for each participating CEO to a NGO of their choice.

Though these business heads have more knowledge about the investment trends then Fashion Trends, they participated very sportingly for the cause. One of the scorchers was Meera Sanyal, country executive (India), The Royal Bank of Scotland who wore a beautiful tunic by Anamika Khanna. She admitted that though she loves fashion, most of the time she is the one who does the watching instead of being watch as was the case today. She was pleased that she was of any help to raise charity for NGO support which assists street children infected with HIV and drug addiction. She added that it was a cause very close to her heart.

Nitin Paranjpe looked elegant in a Collectibles suit by Richard James. Later, he revealed that he was taking part to support Asha Daan, a home for destitutes. Asha Daan means Home of Hope. This NGO has been supported by Hindustan Unilever for many years now. The home takes care of anyone in need for support and care.

The people who dressed up the honchos were ace designers from Indian fashion industry like Anamika Khanna, Narendra Kumar Ahmed and Wendell Rodricks.…

The Handbag: What Does Yours Say About You?

The Handbag: What Does Yours Say About You?

he handbag is the one accessory that says the most about a woman, making not only a fashion statement but a lifestyle one, too. So what kind of handbag do you have and what does it say about your personality?

The Mary Poppins Bag; an oversized shoulder bag used by those who like to expect the unexpected. Inside the bag you will find various scattered paraphernalia that have been accumulated over the years. The lack of organisation in this almost-suitcase is reflected in the owner themselves, who inevitably spends a lifetime sifting through the endless bits and bobs that fill their bottomless pit of a bag. They rarely need the possessions they horde, but glide through life safe in the knowledge that they will never be unprepared. After all you never know when all you will need is a pocket-sized sewing kit and mini sachets of salt!

The Over-the-Shoulder Bag; an adjustable “lazy” bag for those who want to reap all the benefits of a bag without actually having to carry one. The owner wants the best of both worlds and has a quiet arrogance at their discovery. The relaxed and carefree attitude they ooze is the result of meticulously organising the contents of their bag so that they have exactly what they need (and only what they need) for the day. With over-the-shoulder bags that vary in size and length to accommodate the demands of various occasions, the owner is confident not only in their choice of bag but also in themselves.

The Clutch bag; a small hand-held bag used by those who like to hold their life in their fingertips. They are risk-takers, only carrying with them the bare essentials that will inevitably be stuffed into every crevice in a haphazard, space-defying fashion. They opt for style over excess baggage, preferring to rely on their natural ability to respond to life’s surprises rather than planning for them. The owner will unavoidably lean on others for support, depending on the spare bag space of a nearby friend for those items that refuse to be crammed into what can only be described as a large purse.

The Pocket; a non-bag handbag for those who are so laid back they could fall over. They refuse to stress over what they may or may not need for the day, hoping instead that the one item they carry will somehow be suitable for any given situation (a phone that is also a camera that is also a mirror that tells the time, buys things, and has photographic ID). The owner moves through life like they don’t know where they’re going, or even care; they are neither organised nor disorganised, but in some respects are the ultimate dare devil.

Does your handbag reflect your personality?…

Indian Designer Manish Arora With His Baroque Ornamentation at Paris Fashion Week

Indian Designer Manish Arora With His Baroque Ornamentation at Paris Fashion Week

Future is here, at least for the Indian designer Manish Arora, who showcased his Baroque Ornamentation at Paris Fashion Week. The designer, known for his love of vibrant colours and abstract shapes, took inspiration from Baroque, an artistic style prevalent from the late 16th century to the early 18th century predominating Europe characterized by dynamic movement, overt emotion and self-confident rhetoric. For Manish it was individualistic and very Indian, though some of the fashion critics have said its Lady Gaga goin gaga.

Manish combined Indian techniques with geometric designs in bold beautiful colours with a heady mix of different kinds of head gears and weird hairstyles for his beach baroque set of clothes. When his show started all of a sudden it was splash of colours. According to him the bottomline of the international fashion is that it should be no longer boring, Manish was speaking to a news agency about his collection.

This was his fifth season at fashion’s biggest trade event – the Paris Fashion Week, and his ninth international showcase – Paris (five shows) and London (four shows). His collection was also supported by Swarovski which is described by the designer as “mute, metallic, crystalline and European with wide and stiff shoulders resembling Greek armour-plates and military epaulettes”.

What’s in the collection – glamorous evening ensembles futuristic gowns reminiscent of Star War series, the hips of the dresses were padded for additional contours and stiff look, sheer pants and tops with sequins, outfits embroidered with crystals, beads, fine metal sheaths, applique needlework and long Victorian trains along the asymmetrical hemlines, trailing into metres of sheer organza, crepe, nets, cotton-satins, silk and georgettes on the floor.

Not to miss out Manish’s signature shoes, metallic pumps, bangles, and head gears in the shape a motor car. Paris Fashion Week was taken aback!…

Burberry Diaper Bag Shopping Guidelines

Burberry Diaper Bag Shopping Guidelines

Not until recently, a line of Burberry diaper bag has been released. Burberry is one of the well-renowned brands in the industry of fashion. Ranging from fabulous clothes to functional diaper bags, this brand is paving its way to a new market — stylish mothers.

Who ever said entering motherhood will require you to relinquish fashion and style? Now, more and more women are realizing that in turning into a dedicated mother, they need to feel taken care of. For some, a fashionable bag like Burberry diaper bag is a form of self-respect and maintenance of dignity for oneself. Discreetly carrying a diaper bag while showing off a designer brand will surely leave you smiling despite the sleep deprivation.

As expected, a Burberry diaper bag comes with their signature patterned bag. Since then, these lines of bags have been known for their multi-colored patterns and stylish designs of bags. The material can also be trusted with a wipe-clean surface, a great feature particularly for messy children. On the other hand, taking care of a Burberry diaper bag will require quite a lot of maintenance. This bag doesn’t come cheap, and it will need an effort in retaining its glamor and beauty.

Upon purchase of this designer bag, you can ask the retailer for any special cleaning product created specifically for this bag. Since most designer brands have delicate materials, they opted to make their own cleaning solution and some substances in preserving the integrity of the bag. While these are great option for mothers, these, too, are costly. They can either try wiping it using a damp cloth with water, or wash it with mild soap. But, these steps do not guarantee that the stain will easily be removed. It still varies according to the substance and the material of the bag.

The exterior appearance of a Burberry bag should not be the only factor in deciding to buy one. Despite the fact that the looks of the bag is what attracts many, you should realize that the inside is more important than what is seen on the outside. But, knowing that this is a designer bag, how would you determine a good diaper bag from a bad one?

First, check the strap or handle of the bag. Is it sturdy enough to hold all the baby essentials? Is it padded? Did you feel any discomfort while testing it? Making sure that it is comfortable to carry and if it can actually fit your entire baby’s stuff are main functions that you need to check for. Also, check for the weight of the bag. Remember that you wouldn’t want to carry a heavy bag. Your baby’s stuff is heavy enough to strain your shoulders, so ensuring that the bag doesn’t add too much weight will allow you to carry more things.

Designer brand as it is, Burberry diaper bag also needs to be checked for flaws and features. But, the only constant thing when it comes to these bags is that it guarantees many years of service not only for your baby, but also for mommies.…

Why People Use Plastic Bags in Shopping

Why People Use Plastic Bags in Shopping

Because the quality of life and the population are growing up every day, the need of shopping is growing up as a forced effect.

We are now using many kinds of material in packaging shopping stuff such as paper, fabric, plastic, etc… But the main solution for packaging shopping stuff is plastic bags because of the following reasons:

The reason why we should not choose paper bags is that we cannot use too much paper. Paper is from trees, and cutting down trees to make paper is destroying environment. Furthermore, paper bags cannot keep heavy stuff, and it is very easy to be destroyed by water. We should only choose paper bags in case we need solid bags to pack light weight, dry and soft stuff. Furthermore, using paper bags is not an economical way because we rarely and almost cannot recycle paper bags.

The reason why we should not choose fabric bags is that fabric is too expensive to use in this purpose. Fabric is not stable in shape and size, so the fabric bag is not nice anymore when we put too much stuff in. Using fabric is also not good for the environment because fabric is not easy to be decomposed, and we cannot reuse and recycle them so many times. Moreover, like paper, fabric is easy to be damaged by water, and bad news is most shopping stuffs contain water.

For the above reasons, plastic bag is the most effective solution for packaging shopping stuff, and with other perfect uses, they are the best replacement option for other materials. They are made from by-products of oil refining, so using plastic does not harm the environment; besides, using them is a real economical way because they can be reused and recycled many times, also we can make biodegradable ones. Therefore, using plastic is saving our planet. Besides, plastic bags can be a solid and soft form, can be printed many colors, then it is more useful, fashionable than paper and fabric bags. Because of having features of sturdy, flexibility, insulation and easy to be processed, they now become popular which can be seen anywhere, anytime in any shape, size and form.

The last but not least important reason why we should use plastic bags for shopping purpose is that they are safe in packaging food. There are too many toxic chemicals being used in making paper bags, and these toxics harm people’s health. Besides, paper bags are not tight, bacteria and viruses can attack the food inside. It is the same with fabric bags. However, everything is totally opposite when using plastic bags for food packaging. Plastic bags are made from oil and every process in making plastic bags uses heat; therefore, there is not any toxic chemical being used in making them. Being made under heat, plastic bags are very tight, so viruses and bacteria cannot go through the bags to attack the food inside.

With all the reasons mentioned, we can surely choose plastic bags as a solution for going shopping conveniently, economically, for safely food packaging, and for saving our planet.…
